Hubert De Montandon

Hubert De Montandon

Hubert de Montandon was a French perfumer who established his own fragrance house in Paris in the 1930s. He was known for creating complex and sophisticated fragrances that were inspired by his travels around the world.

De Montandon's fragrances were often made with rare and exotic ingredients, such as frankincense, myrrh, and oud. He was particularly interested in creating fragrances that were inspired by the cultures and traditions of the Middle East, and many of his fragrances featured notes of spices and incense.

One of de Montandon's most famous fragrances was "Tabu," which he created in collaboration with the American actress, Dana Wynter. The fragrance was launched in 1932 and became known for its rich and exotic scent profile, which featured notes of patchouli, jasmine, and amber.

De Montandon's fragrance house continued to produce fragrances throughout the 20th century, and the brand was eventually acquired by the Swiss fragrance company, Givaudan. Today, some of de Montandon's original fragrances are still available, including "Tabu," which is considered to be a classic in the fragrance world.
